It’s National Doughnut Day!!!!!!!

…which makes it the perfect day to contemplate the proper spelling of this iconic ring-shaped chunk of sweet-fried American culture. Doughnut or donut? That is the question.

Merriam Webster’s lists doughnut as the original and official spelling and donut as a less common variant, but if you find the debate super intriguing and this simple explanation isn’t enough to quench your curiousity, click here to get the whole story.

Next begs the question, How does one, who is NOT a grammar and spelling nerd – a.k.a NORMAL – celebrate National Doughnut Day?  Answer: By eating doughnuts! (Of course.) Lots and lots and lots and lots of doughnuts. Unless, however, your health and well-being requires you to stick to a strict gluten-free diet, then you watch videos of other people eating doughnuts.
