Hello. My name is Lulu. I am a dog.
I live in a house. With a yard. With two humans. They are mommy human and daddy human. They are my family. They love me.
I take my humans on long walks everyday. Sometimes I take daddy human. Sometimes I take mommy human. Sometimes I take them both.
This morning I took mommy human on a walk.
She was walking kind of funny like I did that time I stepped on the ant hill last summer. A bunch of ants came running out and bit my paw over and over again. You wouldn’t think a bite from a tiny little ant would hurt very much. WRONG. It hurt so bad. I held my hurt paw off the ground and hobbled along on three legs. I didn’t see mommy human step on an ant hill, but I I know she was hurting because she hobbled along on our walk this morning just like I did last summer.
When my paw hurt so much I could hardly walk, mommy human picked me up and carried me the rest of the way home. She held me close and kept saying, “It’s okay, Lulu. It’s okay.” This made me feel much better. I wish I could have carried mommy human the rest of the way home this morning. She is too big. Instead I was so good.
I walked slow so it was easy for her to keep up with me. I did not pull on the leash. I did not chase after squirrels (even though I saw five along the way). I did not throw myself on the ground to roll in poop or dead worms. I was just so good.
When we got back home we ate breakfast. I had dog food and pumpkin. Mommy had eggs and bacon. And guess what? She shared some with me and I didn’t even have to beg. Three pieces of bacon for mommy human. One whole piece of bacon for Lulu. Because I was so good.

I did not throw myself on the ground to roll in poop or dead worms. I did not do this for the bacon. I did it all for mommy human. The bacon was a bonus.
Mommy human is better now. I am better too. Everything’s better. With bacon.
